jelly substance in my carbs already and froze needle/seats?!?!

I bought this bike this spring, first thing i did was fix up the carbs, i didnt get any new parts but i cleaned and repaired the diaphragms. it ran great but it has sat for at least a month while i was redoing the tank. i drained all the gas out of the carbs so i wouldnt have a problem.
got the tank on then i had to get a fuel pump because i couldnt get any gas to a couple carbs.

well i ended up pulling off a fuel bowl and found at least 2 cc's of this yellowish-clear jelly. i havent seen anything like this in any of my car/truck carbs before but i dont know how it got there. also the needle was stuck so hard i had to pry it out! also something ive never had happen, but these are the only carbs i have ever had with rubber tipped needles too. Is this a common issue? they seemed to have some grit/jelly buildup on them, but i polished it out with a cotton swap as well as the bore of the seat. then it ran great last night. i planned on taking a ride today i got it pulled out of the driveway and it died because i forgot to turn the fuel on, then a second carb froze up the exact same way with the exact same amount of jelly gunk in the bottom. then i tore my needle so now i have to order a set of needles. i put it back together anyway and ran it. ran great but with the pump on(i installed a switch) it obviously floods that carb b/c rpm starts climbing, and when you shut the pump off it slows down. by the way thats gonna be a real PITA if i have to do the right bank, not sure if i can pull the bowl off b/c off the water housing under it?

where does everybody order there needle/seat parts from?

 

The jelly you're finding is caused by alcohol in the gasoline. I have to clean it out of the float bowls of every small engine I have every spring.

 

How long is the bike setting between rides? If anylonger than 10 days/2 weeks you need to add some Stabil and/or MMO to your gas.

 

Cleanning carbs is useless if you hook them up to a filth-filled or rust-shedding fuel tank. :crazy:

Float needles that jam up often have a growth of sharp aluminum oxide crystals between them and the brass seat walls on bikes that have been neglected for years.

If anyone ever managed to remove a float bowl on a V-4 without removing the whole set of carbs........i never heard about it !

Ethanol. Buy a reputable fuel treatment and mix it with your fuel or find a place to buy fuel that doesn't contain ethanol. The ethanol is causing the rubber on the needle to swell, causing it to stick. Although I did find Squirrels crystal theory entertaining too.
