I've done 2 mods at the same time. I installed a K&N air filter and hacked up my air box cover! The bike runs Fantastic and the intake noise is about twice as loud as a snorkel less bike.:biggrin::biggrin:

Try not to laugh to hard, as I could not find my rivet gun, and had to brake out the hot glue gun.

I was thinking I'd need a PC with all of the changes, Muffler, hacked airbox, K&N. But I just took it for a spin and the bike runs better!

About the same under 3500k but at 4000k+, HOLD ON! she really rips!:smile::wink: Maybe the different Fi for 00~01 has a wider range?

Years ago on my 87 F2 I would sometimes run the big without the top cover all together. I would use duct tape and tape along the edge of the filter and the bottom case. It's been years since I have bought it, a foam type, I forget the brand could have been a K&N but likely something else.

But the big did seem to run a little better in the thin air of Northern New Mexico. And indeed it did have a more pronounced ggggrowl.

Only caveat is when it's dusty make sure to clean the air filter more often. Plus be really careful riding in the rain.

I dont care for the K&N because I find the cotton mesh to be very fragile.

I could not find a foam filter, so I went with the K&N. I did not care for the very small filter area, as the stock filter seemed to have about twice the filter area as the K&N. But the K&N was $30. shipped, new in box.

The stocker was never changed and was very dirty. I'm sure this has something to do with the performance increase.

This is the good thing about the K&N, there oil soaked, so rain is no as big a deal as it would be with a dry paper type.

the only mod sin was the 'S' lol
I'm convinced that suzuki used the s for slide...
then decided the bike was truly ugly and added uzuki :)

Update! I rode around all day and the bike has a very noticeable increase in power. It's more touchy at low rpm. from 4~4.5k it pulls like a train. Let off the gas and snap it open in 3rd, and it's wheel up time from 6.5k-on.

And the MPG is down to 42 from 46.
