Anyone in the Congers New York Area that has a VFR 1200 and is willing to let Ivans performance use it to develope an Ivans tre would be a hero to all. IMHO.

    Please let us in

I am not endorsing Ivans by any means I just called them and they said they didn't have the tre and would be interested in a donor for development. Is fred available to any of us? I would be interested .

If it were me, I'd walk up to him shake hands and introduce myself.

LOL! RWR, it takes a while to get to know Badbilly. He's......unique.

If I were a betting man, I'm guessing that unless its coincidence, you won't ever be able to meet and have "Fred" handle your TRE. "Fred" is rather ambiguous information, intentionally so.

And if I'm wrong, billy will be the first to let me know.

    Ask Badbilly.

Actually, TRE stands for "Timing Retarder Eliminators" in this case.

I'd go with Ivan if he figures out how to rig a TRE on a 1200 without using switches from Radio Shack that are not weatherproof much less weather resistant and zip cord made for fixing table lamps. Or maybe somebody can tre Fred.

Another way is to pick up a mid-60s Harley Ironhead with a magneto, The spark advance and retard is done by twisting the left bar grip.

I'd stick one of these gadgets on my 1200 but I have as yet not been able to outride the bike. Same damn problem with the 91.

Thats too bad. I always kind of liked them not in a particularly useful way, but more a pleasure thing.

In this instance, the forum served a purpose by supplying enough information to access "Ivan's'" video and see that in fact he is promoting the use of a switch that has a short potential and lamp wire. This type of backyard shit might be good for tractors made before 1955 but on a modern motorcycle I think not, and on my bike certainly not.

We could examine all this and point out that anyone with half a brain is not going to loan out a 15k bike to some dude named Ivan who lives in NY so he can kludge up the electronics . Maybe Havoc , Ishark and RWS can get together and share that way nobody will be out $15k when Ivan fries the electronics.

This is why I use Fred and why I am not going to tell anyone where he is. Fred is not a guy to piss off.

I have had experience with Ivan on other bikes and his performance kits are right on the money - in fact they kick ass. The guy is all new Yorker but he knows his shit and I would trust him completely. When my old FZ1 had an issue he was the ONLY one that actually found the problem!
