For all of us that have been couped up inside or in a cage all winter, the glorious time of year is upon us where we get to start riding again. Before too long we will be cage free with the exceptions of torrential downpours and oversized loads. Take a little time out and make sure all is good before heading out.

Today was my first day on two wheel in three months. Both my front and rear tires were down to about 20 psi. Make sure to check your tire pressures before going out. Other than gear, this is probably the most imporatant thing to check.

Watch for the sand and gravel from the winter season. Around where I'm at it is terrible and will be for at least another month. Take it easy, especially at intersection. There are also some monster pot holes out there. I found quite a few today and last week I had a friend hit one that ruined two rims and three tires on his Mercedes since he wasn't watching out.

Wear your gear guys. ATGATT. If you don't own ALL of the gear, wear ALL of it that you own. Your gear doesn't protect you when its hanging on the rack at home.

Stay safe and keep the shiny side up fellas. We don't want to see any viffers go down due to poor spring time maintenance or misjudgement of the roads this time of year.

Ouch!!!! LOL! In Indiana they only make us retake the advanced MSF class after the winter break. :-D I parked it a few weeks early this winter as the weather was supposed to bring in a big storm... that didn't come. Since I was already winterized I said the heck with it. I've had maybe a total of three days before today that I could have been out for a short ride but since I was winterized, my driveway was still iced over, and I already had prior engagements I didn't have time to get the bike ready to go properly. A ten minute ride somewhere in the middle of winter isn't worth a $1500 repair bill in plastics and miscellaneous parts to me.

Regardless of the time off the bike you can bet your sweet ass I had a grin from ear to ear today from the moment I started getting ready till many many hours after I parked my faithful steed. I can easily say that today has without a doubt been the single best day I've had since I parked it for the winter. Its amazing how just (lacking) two wheels can make such a difference in mentality and morale.

I didn't get into street riding until I moved to CO. Growing up in MN, my dad convinced me street bikes weren't worth it because the season was too short. Now that I've been bit by the street bike bug, I'd loose my mind if I had to go three months without riding the bikes.

Glad you had a good ride and welcome back to the land of the living!!!

Just got my new to me Viffer back out of hock from the shop ($550 beans, ouch!). Yesterday was perfect! It was dry in the morning for my commute, rained all day, and then stopped in time for my ride home. There is a God, and he loves us to ride! Today fog and wet streets, but I have the gear and rode no problem except for that fine mist that covers the shield in the fog...do any of you guys use RainX on your face shield? I've heard from some not to and others say yes...

I do in fact use Rain-X on my shield, windscreen, and all lenses on the bike. Especially where I live I have to deal with a TON of bugs since I live near a river (lots of mosquitoes) and the Rain-X helps with both. I don't use the Rain-X treatment that you wipe on with a cloth as it didn't seem to work as well for me on the plastic as it does for the glass on my car. Instead I use the 2 in 1 spray that cleans and repels. I know that Autozone carries it and I'm pretty sure that it can be found at Wal-Mart and Meijer as well. Works fantastic. The bugs always come right off and when the fog starts beading up on your shield you can just give your head a turn to the left and right and the wind will blow almost all the drops off so that you can see again. It is at least ten times better than the "use your glove as a wiper" method.
