I have a sister in law in Clearwater and if I get brain-death stupid enough to ride anywhere in that pisshole state and get lite up, I WILL RUN. If they're gonna take thousands and my bike, they are gonna F***ING earn every damned cent!

PS: Notice the penalties for an improperly mounted tag are the same as for excessive speed and stunting?

Why are they singling out motorcycles? If that's such a good idea why don't they try applying that to all vehicles.

Probably because they wouldn't get away with it.

The backlash would get them punted from office.

This is common to what will happen when enough motorcyclists piss off the wrong people. Look at Denver, CO with the new MC pipe noise/original pipe law. Be it, stunters, folks with loud pipes, custom with trick plates, ricky racers in traffic....and/or all off the above.

This guy Long (and West was there) and I were talking to last night had a brand new CBR1000...he was looking to put the plate way up inside near his shock. I just think, the harder it is for a cop to see it, the more likely they will find a reason pull you over for something.

Just remember, how you ride reflects on ALL of us motorcyclists as a whole.

They are doing this because people are killing themselves and others.
I love the "spirited" ride just as much as the next guy, but...
I ride the speed limit when necessary.
I don't live in Florida. If I rode there, I'd ride the limit with the plate on straight and both wheels on the ground.
Sometimes laws are not a bad thing.

    Anti-squid legislation.

I live here in beutiful florida and the laws are a bit crazy. if you speed 50 or over the first fine is up to 1000 dollars, its kida up to the cops discretion. three times doing 50+ and you license is gone. they're realy cracking down on the license plate thing. its gotta be mounted horizontally and behind the back wheel in plain site. a couple people i talk to on the local riders forum have been busted. i do business with the gulf coast pres. of abate and he said this was all pushed by state representative carloe lopez. the origonal draft had the 30 mph over = vehicle confiscation but the abate lobyist fought that and got the speed bumped to 50 and the confiscation dropped. still scary as hell to get a $1000 speeding fine. what makes it worse is that a dude in a z06 going 50+ gets a 300 dollar ticket. i guess down in miami were carlos lopez lives their was a bunch of accidents from idiots running form the cops and other tomfoolery which ended up killing inocent people. needless to say on my "spirited" rides the fastest i go is 40 over.
