Iv got an 86 700cc. It just seems starved for gas. i have to run it on half choke and giving it just a little gas stalls it. i have to give more than a little gas to make it go.

    Im getting plenty of voltage.
plenty of spark (dono how to get to front plugs).
getting fuel through the fuel pump.

Its gotta be something with the carbs.

can someone help me get the carbs off. i can get to the top of them and see the big black parts that slide open to let air in. one sticks a little bit. that's as far as i know to get.

A service manual would be awsome.

    thank you very much.

There's a thread on this site that has free downloadable manuals. I'm not sure if there's one for your year and model, but it's worth looking for.

although i am not familiar with the actual carbs on your 700, I am familiar with a couple of things that you can try.....I am assuming this problem is from right off of idle and not while cruising...

I would start by diagnosing the pilot air screw and pilot jet circuit and accelerator pump...if the carbs have an accelerator pump.

it could be that your pilot circuit is partially plugged, or your accelerator pump is not allowing enough fuel to enter the airstream flowing through the carb venturi's when you open the throttle, or you have an air leak in the intake tract. This is causing a lean condition which necessitates the use of the enrichening circuit (i.e. choke). My first guess is to think you have a plugged pilot jet in one or more of your carbs or an air leak somewhere.

Like i said, i'm not exactly sure of what types of carbs you have, but the problem you are having stems from one, or a combination, of these root causes of bad carburetion from idle to 1/4 throttle transition before the needle begins to take over the midrange carburetion duties.

I'd give her a good dose of Seafoam before tearing into the carbs. I'd say they are a little dirty.
