Maybe just a little premature but.... This is usually a great time for speculation on the new bikes. I know it is probably going to be August or September before the new stuff is officially released but there might be some info out there. The 2008 has to be different, bikes always change after I buy one. Thought it might be fun to stir up the wishlists out here for the next version of our bikes. Its going to get intiresting from here on since California introduced the newer emissions laws for 2008. The feds will be sure to follow and bikes will probably all be 50 state legal anyway..... Its starting to feel like when musclecars came under scrutiny in the early 70's. Luckily we have more technology on our side now.

I have been getting antsy myself. We have been speculatin on here for over a year about whether they will or won't have the VFR. I'm eager to see what happens. It's gonna take something special to get me to give up the 5g, though.

Same thing will happen this year as the past 5 or so. Look kids, new paint and graphics <applause>.

I think the problem with Honda is they don't see a significant reason to make bold moves. The marketplace pretty much is what it is. Outside of the 600 and 1000 bikes, what will change drastically from any manufacturer?

The 1000RR is going to have the same overhaul as the 600RR for 08, and it will be available in white. Not sure about the VFR. Trying to get some info this week, actually. I'll report back with some insider news if I get it.

If only it could have more power(150HP or so), more equipment like Keyless go, TC(switchable), Xenon and LED-lights, tripcomputer...

    ....time to wake up..

Anyway. The VFR is the 4th best selling motorbike in Norway this year... If it ain`t broke.....

I agree with GTI... it's mostly there...so my wish list is small.

I want a better seat - denser foam on the butt and narrower up at the tank for my short legs to get to the ground. A better chain adjustment gauge. A louder horn. A gas tank with opening to reduce gas shooting/splashing back out the top during a fill-up (maybe a lip?). Self-cancelling turn signals.

    Cycle World - September issue
they compare the VFR (RWB) to the BMW F800.

Wondering which one came out on top?

The last sentence: "Visit your Honda dealer"

LOL. I thought about that F800(ST).... For about ten seconds.. It`s probably a good bike, but as many BMWs just plain BORING.. Made for old people...

    K1200S or R1200S, that`s another story...

That was a great puppy! Good Work!

Long live the VFR. I dont know if I would get a K1200S just cause it is so big, I think I would be more likely to have the VFR and a new 1000RR for speedier times.
I am betting only color changes in the VFR this year. Although since I just got an 07, they are sure to improve it 100 fold and make me mad.

What about another special that brings back some of the old VFR racing heritage..... Lawson rode with Honda during that time didn't he? The special this year could have a freer flowing exhaust and programming to take advantage of it. Make the centerstand optional to save weight and offer an upgraded suspension. Since they celebrated the 25th this year with Freddie Spencer at the debut they could keep moving forward with a special model each year that represents those great years when the VFR was a Grand Prix bike. Just simple factory mods that would eventually be available directly through Honda. Of coarse the "normal" VFR will get some tweaks to move it forward too but will be tamer to cater to the people who don't need to go as extreme. Colors should be White with blue accents like the later Rothman's bikes..... If there isn't a full out redesign I think this would be ok. More performance than the current 25th RWB with the 08 "GP" bikes having more bite than the regular VFR. I would be a little upset about the upgrades I would miss from my RWB but thats what sells new bikes. The colors alone sold me on mine.... Would you trade for this type of upgrade?

I think I'd trade just for lower weight and better suspension and maybe just a little boost in engine performance if the cost wasn't huge that is...

Better suspension, seat and adjustable footpegs, my old knees don't like to be bent too much on long hauls, otherwise I am pretty happy.

I talked to every Honda dealer within 50 miles of my house about the future of the VFR in the US market. ALL OF THEM said the same thing:

The VFR simply does not move in enough volume to justify it's continued sale in the US. Very foolishly, 95% of the riding populous equates performance to $$$. This is why the VFR does not sell in the US. You can get a CBR600 for several thousand less that will obliterate it in 90% of sporting situations. That's what the public wants & that's what Honda gives them. I would much rather have a well rounded do-it-all machine than a single focus street missle. If there even is a 2008 VFR, expect nothing more than a color change. The RWB is a single year only. 3 of the dealers came right out & said there will not be a 2008 VFR.

    KC-10 FE out...

The one Honda salesman I talked to said the same thing. He's sold Hondas for years, and says the VFR is so hard to sell he doesnt even try - for the same money you can get a CBR1000RR and for a couple grand less the 600. He works for the second biggest Honda dealership in Colorado - I'm thinking it won't be back for '08 as well.

the talk over this side of the pond, is that there are no changes???I think that Honda will pull out the stops to market there street bikes, like the cbf1000.
What I would like to see done to the vfr. is, high level exzorst,(not under seat ones) upside down forks, and bore the engine out to a 950cc,and do away with the v-tec,and maybe fit addustable bars,ie, up/down/forward,like what the BMW's do.
And,I would like to be able to buy a pearl white bike, like what you guys get over in your country, all we get here is red/blue/black.
But,if you want more cc's and still want a touring bike, there is as always the blackbird, thats one very fast bike don't you think????and it handles very well.
