Coming to work this morning I saw a newer RWB VFR getting stapped to a sling on the back of a tow truck at 7:10 am on WB Hwy. 50 at Camino. I saw no signs of damage on the left side of the bike which was the only side visible, plus it was at the end of a long straight. Don't know exactly why I posted other than I thought of this site while riding by. There were no signs of the rider. Good luck to whomever...

That would be the fine state of California, Camino sits just east of the city of Placerville.

I was WB on 50 about that time but probably ahead of the incident so I didn't seen anything. Bummer though, hope nobody was injured.

Gotcha! Thanks. (I always feel a bit cheated when a member doesn't have his location below the avatar...it is amazing how much more a post resonates when you know where they are...

Didn't want to cheat anyone. I just figured anyone that it really mattered to would be local enough.

No worries. I could always have Googled it. I always find that when I don't know one element of a conversation or a post it seems to pique my interest all the more.
Wish I knew what the story was on that bike...

My day is complete! But seriously, it is a cool thing that the Forum is set up the way it is and comparing regional trends and attitudes is a fascinating part of the set up. Lots to learn...

Yeah, you're right. To be honest I never really paid attention to what I had over there. Ironically, when I see a quote from somewhere near left field, I look to see "where the hell is THAT guy from?". Of course I spend my share of time in left field too. After all, it's CA.

Yes, one can learn alot about a Forum member by what is over there. And I am laughing because I was going to say I am in my own little world because the heat bakes us Tucsonans in the summer...we are all a bit odd. That is wht AZ borders CA...two slightly odd states.

No matter where in the Universe you are...there you are!

Yeah, guy might notta been hurt, guy mighta been in the back of a cop car on his way to the clink. My bike was on a flatbed on its way to the impound last february. I was hangin out with johnny law. lame.

no charges on me other than an error with my registration and "you looked too leaned over on that exit ramp". 225 bones later I had my bike back.

Yes, that is a possibility...no MC endorsement...impounded, etc. I saw one of those outside my business recently.

    But "too leaned over?" WOW!!!

    Too leaned over....

I heard the same thing when stopped on my first bike, I crossed a divided hwy onto a side road, made a beautiful smooth arc and was really happy with my line, momentum, throttle etc... all the sweater in that I was going from a 55mph road to a 40 mph side road and was never speeding... well, not during the turn... I quickly ended up behind a slow car and settled in to enjoy the view behind them on my leisurely ride.... an unmarked car on the lane I crossed over turned in behind me and flew up on my rear wheel the country road. It was one of those things where I almost pulled over to let the knuckle head by, but there was no shoulder. the Crown Vic had regular tags and I thought hmm, cop?, but saw nothing in the mirrors, so after the slow car tuns off, I blip my throttle and the LEO hits the lights.

I got a warning after he said I was "leaned over too far". I doubt he ever got a speed reading as he hit the lights before he even started to accelerate... I think I scared him by how quickly I pulled over as he locked his brakes to get in behind me. I can only imagine how fast he had to go to catch up with me, before I slowed behind the other car, in order to protect the public.

I wonder if this leaned over too far thing is just from LEO's that don't ride, or just have huge cruisers?

I have been thinking lately(as I pass more motor cops) about talking to one of them and get an idea of what sets them off. Maybe some pointers on how to ride in their area.
I zipped passed a motor cop in the twisties outside Reno yesterday. I was sure there was no where close for him to turn around, and then I thought, "he's outhere riding the same twisties I am for the same reason...TWISTIES!"

Too leaned over? Would he prefer you run wide? I have never heard of such nonsense in my life. One can lean a bike to 90% at 5 MPH.

By the way, I have never heard of a law addressing touching a knee down- not that it's a good idea on the street, but does anyone know of any legal issues?
