So I was in the garage the other day tinkering with my '03, installing a battery tender hookup and I happened to notice the fender on my bike looks a little different. I've been tossing around the idea of doing some kind of custom fender elminator mod, but it looks like someone beat me to it. Is this the stock fender?

It looks like the stock license plate light, but I can't seem to find a good picture of an '03 fender. Theres a couple 06+ on ebay with a good shot of the fender, and mine is a bit different. What fender/fender eliminator is this? Is this just a hacked up stocker? I didnt see any signs of cutting and it does fit good. Thanks in advance for the detective work!

Thanks Toe. It does look pretty clean even with the plate on. Gonna keep looking to see if I can find out exactly what kit is on there. I'll update if I ever solve the mystery..

Looks like stock with all of the plastic cut away or removed.

That's the stock metal bracket that supports the license plate and light. It sits behind the large plastic part that you are missing. There is no difference from 02 to 09 (other than the color of the signal lenses that went clear in 06). I cut away much of the sides and bottom of the plastic on my bike. I decided not to remove the whole thing, because I wanted to keep the plastic that covers the bracket between the mufflers.

    Here's a shot of a stock fender:

    Here's after I trimmed it:

Awesome detective work DriverDave, you're hired! Really appreciate the pictures; it all makes sense now. I'm sure someone else will see this and hopefully use it instead of buying a kit. This is an excellent no-cost fender eliminator mod and looks nicer then most aftermarket kits. Thanks again.

P.S. Nice bike, that red is gorgeous and its super clean.
