Is this the common electrical wiring issue with these bikes?

Well guys, i think i may have experienced the wiring gimmicks of the bike today without ever owning one, went down to a local dealership that had a fairly clean 2006 with a custom paint job of blue skulls added over the oem color, bike started up fine let it warm up, the gas was very very low, so we rode it over to service so they could put a gallon of gas into the bike, then they let me take the bike on test drive, i got about 3 miles from the dealership and was just about to turn around and head back when the bike just died at the light i was sitting at.. was soooo embarrassing because the bike would not start and everyone was honking at me as i tried to push the bike across 3 lanes to get out of the road.. that bike is no slouch when needing to push it by hand.. anyways i tried numerous times to try and start the bike, it wouldn't do anything but flicker the headlights... thought maybe the solenoid was bad because it was buzzing when trying to start the bike, so i pulled the seat and tried to jump the bike with a key, but it wouldn't do anything.. had to wait for the dealer to bring a trailer to come pick me up.. they they tried to sell the bike to me at half the sticker price basically once i got back...

I'd say the bigger issue was a Honda bike with skulls on it. That doesn't work on any level.

If you liked the bike then at half the sticker price I would say it is a good buy. The problem is common with these and is no big deal to fix, it has just suffered charging problems which they all do sooner or later.

I think the skulls are the primary problem here.
What self respecting bike would run properly with those on?

Yes it could be that the dealer is not familiar with these bikes and just wants to get rid of it. Or there may be more issues. Hard to tell when you cannot complete a test ride and check out the tranny, etc.

He had done about 3 miles on it and was about to turn back, I would think he would have noticed by then if there were any other issues. Lucky for him the problem arose before the hard earned was passed over

I'd say the problem was in the starter valves and the skulls.

The math is a little harder even applying the peso standard.

" If a Honda VFR at a dealership has a selling price of X pesos, and only makes it three miles from the dealership on a test ride and the dealership has to pay for getting the motorcycle back, then reduces the price of the motorcycle by 1/2, how much did the motorcycle go oot the door for?"

Might be worth it for the OP to pop for one of those via Bejing 15 peso R/Rs along with a story aboot how it will cost several hundred pesos to fix that scooter before that dealership changes it's collective mind.
