Is this sound normal

Hi all. Im a newcomer to this site, just having purchased a 2008 VFR800. And where better to come when learning about my new toy. Am still getting accustomed to the new and wonderful sounds of the VFR (especially the Leo Vince exhausts) and one I cant identify is a sort of popping sound almost like a leaky exhaust gasket, when the Vtec starts to do its thing at 6500rpm. Any pearls of wisdom available? Thanks

 

My '07 makes the same noise. I seem to remember the cause being mentioned in another post somewhere, but I can't recall what it is (intake "flapper valve", maybe?). All I can say is that it has always done it, and nothing has fallen off or broken, so I don't worry about it.

 

Thanks Lgn001. Have found out where the mysterious flapper valve is so will run the gas tank out a bit and have a look at what goes on under the tank.
