Is this a mid-life crisis I'm going through.....

I have been an "in the shadows" member here for a while but don't believe I've introduced myself.
I can "sort of" officially say I'm the proud owner of a beautiful yellow 2000 VFR that I haven't actually sat on it yet. I have posted a pic of it...umm somewhere on this site. :biggrin:
Hi, My name is Jeff/Jeffrey Atteberry. I live in Franklin, TN. Not new to motorcycles but I am new to a "modern" sport bike. Not that I have never ridden a VFR. I have a good friend over in N.C. that has one. WHOO HOO!! Motorcycles have been in and out of my life since my early teens. I am a Honda lover through and through. I love the 1st gen Shadows and Magnas. I currently own 5 Hondas. 1983 V65 Magna a 1986 V65 Magna that has been mistreated and not quite ressurected yet. A 1984 700cc Magna that I restored last summer. It's beautiful. (looks like I have it sold fingers crossed) A 1986 VF500F Interceptor which was a non-runner when I got it. It runs excellent now. I got it to learn what it's like and how to ride a sport bike. Excellent little machine to learn on. And now the 2000 VFR which is a huge step up from a 500cc. I will take my time learning her "quirks", what she likes and what she doesn't like. Got a trip to NC coming up in May called the Spring Get Together. Meeting up with some great friends from all over the east coast. Some great roads out here by Franklin in case someone's curious.

Welcome to the site even though you have been here a while now. You should be called "Magna_Man_Tn" based on the history that you have just presented.

 

Can you still ride there or is it too cold this time of year?

 

Average temps are around 50 degrees for this region....however this coming Saturday is forecast partly cloudy and 70 degrees!! Which I won't be able to indulge in because I'll rolling along with a buddy in his mini-van arriving in South Carolina picking up MY NEW TOY. arty2:
So to answer your question, Yes it's usually just warm enough on some days. Late January is usually when we get our coldest part of winter well into late February.I am slowly obtaining some "cold weather" gear so I can bear it longer. :wink:

Welcome aboard, Jeff. She's a fine looking 13 year old for sure. No such thing as "mid life crisis". We just get smarter about our choices as we get more "seasoned" :hippie: You're gonna love your 5th gen!

 

You are not midding unless you have left the wife for a 21 year old chickie and wear your shirts open to the bottom button, showing off so much of you chest hair, proving you need a weed-eater to see you nipples. Too much info.....OK I will stop.

I live in florence al. And usually ride up to your area on my longer rides. Maybe we can meet up around the trace sometime. Mine is red but I wont hold the yellow against you. I ride all year long with the right gear of course.

LOL Yep, I do like those Magnas.

 

Sounds like a plan. A couple friends and I know a few roads other than the trace. The long sweepers are fun if you can get some speed but then there are the bicyclists and slow folks looking at the scenery. Which is fine, that's what it's for. The Natchez Trace Parkway is beuatiful and more so in the fall but I'd rather ride somewhere else rather than take the risk of getting into a bad situation. Not saying I haven't had my share of "fun" on the Trace. Some days can be quite busy with bicycles, joggers and cagers. If the popo stop you on the Trace, you will get a ticket. More likely to get a ticket on the Trace than you would the "other" roads.
Of course there always dangers where ever you go but my friend David and I know some good roads. Some are hit and miss and you may have to ride to this area to hit this curvey road and then ride over to another area to hit another curvey road. Sometimes we can make somewhat of a "loop" out of it.Seems we always find more every year. Most of the time it's asphalt in nice shape to very nice shape. David tends to like me lead because he likes the pace I run...(I have fear, David does not) but that usually means when I look in my mirror all I see is David. LOL The fat bastard. So if you like we can get go out for some jaunts this coming season.

Welcome. Not knocking them but from what I've seen here if you could get an old 500 running well you must know your stuff. Enjoy your new toy and ride safe.

This weekend the mother nature was nice to us. Mid 50's and sunny. Today was the first real day I got in a decent ride on my new to me VFR. I LOVE IT!! Tomorrow more of the same. Anyone else in the Nashville, TN. area getting out tomorrow?
