I have a 2006 VFR 800 ABS that I purchase 3 weeks ago. I found a free service manual online for the 2002 model.
Does anyone know if the 2002 manual can be used for the 2006 ?

Thanks Scuba. Yes, I was looking for a Ducati ST4S for a long time, but prices kept going up and then I read all the regular maintenance you have to do, plus they jack you up every time you go for service. Then I remember ...what about a VFR ? I was looking for bikes 400 miles away, almost drove to DC for a 2008 and then 2 days later out of nowhere a guy puts this one for sale with only 1420 miles and not even a pinhole size scratch on it !!! It looked like it came out of a box !!! My only complain is that I am not sure where the 'touring' part is because I find the handlebars to be a bit low. AND I am not sure why Honda couldn't put a lousy gear indicator on the display.

Yep,the factory Honda Service Manual covers all 6th gen. model bikes from '02 to '09.

While the bikes are essentially the same as Scuba has already stated Honda did make quite a few detail changes to the '06 and up bikes. Different VTEC actuation programming in the ECU,higher flow rate fuel injectors, and LED lighting just to name a few.

I can tell you that the electrical wiring diagrams from that 2002 manual will be pretty much useless on your '06 because Honda made drastic changes to the wiring harnesses on these bikes over the years.

Plenty of high rise bar options for these bikes out there. Convertibars,Helibars,Variobars, take your pick.
As far as a gear indicator goes, there are plenty of those out there in the aftermarket as well. Super easy to install too.

Congratulations on picking up the new ride and Welcome. :welcome:

    LOL.

Well I don't know about all that Scuba but I gotta say those Convertibars that Allemay just posted up about certainly are very interesting.
And yeah I agree Stewart's sport/touring thread pretty much covers it all. Good choice.

Didn't know there were gear indicators out there. Hmmm, I'll have to search. Thanks
