Been off the bike for a while. I just for back on and noticed that when I pull the clutch in and let it coast there is a sound and feel that is much like engine breaking but in a very high gear, higher than 6th

I am wondering is that the symptom of a clutch going bad or wheel bearings? Bike has 32k miles original clutch and bearings.

Suspension was totally shot when I for the bike at 29k miles, now it's all new.

Thanks for any help in trying to troubleshoot this!

How is your clutch lever feel? If it is soft it's possible your clutch isn't completely disengaging, also when bikes sit sometimes the clutch plates stick, with the bike off and in first gear pull the clutch lever and roll the bike. If there's any resistance you can pinpoint the problem from there. If not, well, then look into the bearings some more

Ok pull the clutch in, don't let it coast, flick it into neutral if there is no sound then it isn't wheel bearings, then you start looking elsewhere

Another way to check the clutch is to put the bike on the centerstand, start the engine, and put the bike in gear. If the clutch is suspect the rear wheel will start to turn, if the clutch isn't dragging the rear wheel won't move. Also with the bike on the centerstand you can check the wheels for drag. Maybe you have a brake disk that is dragging badly, check disks for heat build-up after a ride.

I put it on the center stand. Spun the first wheel, heard a bit of rubbing on the brake pad, my understanding is this is normal. How much rubbing there should be I have no idea. I then spun the rear wheel, same thing, a bit of rubbing although it sounded more than the front.

    Then I did this procedure.

Put bike in neutral, had wife pull in clutch.
I spun the rear tire, was fairly smooth other than the brake rubbing noise.
I then had her leave the clutch held in and put it into 1st, there was definitely a bit of resistance vs. neutral (clutch pulled in at all times)

Not sure if this is normal. I am going to try what FJ12rydertoo suggested with putting it into gear on a center stand with clutch in and engine on, and see if my rear tire actually moves.

I will also check the rotors for heat buildup, but if I recall, after riding the swing arm and rear area is pretty hot anyways.
