Hey everyone. I just picked up a really nice used Jardine GP1 exhaust off of a '08 Hayabusa to put on my '86 700. The bike doesn't have any other engine mods other than a K&N filter. My question is: Would it be a good idea to put a jet kit on the bike after I put the exhaust on? I've looked at the DynoJet jet kits and they have Stage 1 and Stage 2 for my bike. It looks to me that Stage 1 would be fine since the exhaust is really the only thing done to it. What other options do I have for jet kits or do I even need one? Any insight would be great.

Here is the exhaust I got:

Here is the DJ Stage 1 jet kit:

    Forget it!!!..Don't waste your money!!!

I just removed a kit from my VFR and the bike runs way better...

Those companies cannot match Honda's R and D...they are a waste of money and do nothing but waste Gas and foul plugs.

My after market exhaust is fine without it..

Perhaps you need one if you are racing so you don't run lean at high speed but the majority of people don't need them...

    Just my 2 cents

IF you find a flat spot between 4500-5500 rpm, you can shim the needles up a bit.

SLIGHTLY larger main jets might a good idea IF you can verify on a dyno.

Just got another set in the mail today, Dynoshit kit installed, first step is toss those parts and try to repair the rest of the mess. Theses things are a train wreck.

First off re jetting for a different slip-on is not required with these older bikes. When folks talk of re-jetting for an after market exhaust it usually pertains to a full system in which the exhaust tubing is slightly larger diameter eliminates a certain emissions system and has a different routing; something that's rarely available on these bikes. And the reason they make these kits is because most folks don't want to pay for the factory kit that should be used $$$$$$$$. There are some aftermarket places that make a jet kit that is fine for this bike but they are definitely not much if any cheaper than stock. Most like Dynojet have a needle that has no taper and wants you to drill out a hole.
