Hi, I just bought a 2004 VFR800 last week and was surfing the net and found this site. I’ve already found some good information here. I love my cycle but it may be a little too high for me. I’m 5’9” and my feet don’t touch the ground enough for me. I’m afraid I may loose it when I come to a stop on an uneven surface and I'm not sure my bad knees will hold the weight if it leans too far. Does anyone have any suggestions on lowering the seat height or frame about an inch?

A corbin seat will have you sitting lower and is well worth the bucks.

Or, if you don't have much money, I believe I have seen a tutorial on cutting around 1" foam from the stock seat. I think it's in the texas VFR garage section of the site. Let me know if you are interested and I'll dig it up.

Isn't there a triangle plate to turn sideways that lowers the bike about an inch? I swear I've read something like that, maybe just on the 5th gen though?

Then again, I'm so high on allergy meds right now maybe I don't know what I'm remembering.

Reg71, I looked all over for the "How to Cut Foam" but couldn't find it. Would you please send me the information? Thanks

I will try rotating the triangle first to see if that does the trick instead of hacking the seat or buying a new one.

    Thanks
