    Hi,

New to this site. My brother had a 96 silver vfr 750, as did my riding partner, same bike, same color, same year. Rode each lots as I had a zx11. Missed the power of the Kawi, yet there was something better about the Honda. Just sold my 90 gsxr 11, and am looking for a vfr. Sport, sport touring and comuting are the needs. I was thinking of a 86 vf1000r, as I rode one in the states years ago, and got hooked to the growl. Any thoughts.

I'd buy newer if I could, but they are still great bikes. You are just looking at more difficulty finding parts. I think you'll find the growl pretty comparable on the newer bikes. Welcome to the board by the way. I ride a 5th gen and in my opinion, you can't go wrong with it. It has FI and gear driven cams. It also has linked brakes which some hate, some don't. No problems with them from me so I can't really comment much about them.

Welcoem to the group, Ace. I agree with reg about buying newer if you can as finding parts for older beike becomes more problematic as the bike gets older. I have a 93 VFR750 and while parts are still available, there are some aftermarket items that are not available due to the age of the bike. The growl should be pretty similar on the newer bikes. I love the way mine growls and it is similar to the 800cc bikes. And its got plenty of power to boot.
