When i start the bike, about 2 out of 10 times the headlights dont come back on. The hi beam still works. I have to turn it on & off a couple of times & it comes good. Could this be the low beam relay. Has anyone had the same problem? Any advice would be appreciated.

    P.S its an 07 model.

Have you checked the simple things first. Like a broken filament in the bulb that makes contact every now and then. Or it's the start switch not making contact to the head light circuit once released after starting.

My gen 6 has done this a couple of times and it is the high/low beam switch. You could take it apart and clean it or just click it back and forth a couple of times like I do.

Thanx for the feed back. Its not the globes, but the switches are worth a look. I'll give em a good clean & check. I'll let u know how it goes. There on before i start it, but don't come back on after it starts. Is it the starter switch that cuts & restores power to the headlights during starting?

    Yes.

When you turn the keyswitch to the "ON" position the headlights should come on.

When you push the starter switch to start the bike you momentarily break the contacts inside the starter switch that supply power to the headlights and the headlights turn off so that the battery can supply all the available power it has to start the bike.

When you release the starter switch the contacts inside the starter switch that supply power to the headlights should make contact again and the headlights should immediately come back on again.

If your headlights aren't coming back on when you release the starter switch after the bike starts then disassemble the starter switch and clean the corrosion off the copper contacts that are inside the switch.

Sorry it took so long to reply, it didn't happen again until yesterday. I thought back to this forum and just pulled on the starter button and the lights came on. Looks like the switchblock needs a good clean. Thanx for the help & brainstorm everyone.
