interchangeable part? 1985 petcock fuel filter on an 86 bike?

Hello all, I had previously posted that my 1986 vf500f's petcock is missing a part. I got curious, and search bikebandit.com for the same part on a 1985. The same part that is discontinued for an 86, is available on an 85. this is the page for the 85: click here, and scroll down the thumbnails till you see "fuel tank"... The parts diagrams they use are identical for both the 85 & the 86; the part in question is part #6, the fuel filter. Is there a chance this part will work on my 86?
