Hello VFR World! Looks like a great site! I just bought an "04 Interceptor a couple weeks ago----what a ride, I love it. I have a Hayes repair manual I used to adjust the chain. Then I read a few comments on this website, so now I have a couple questions. Shooting for 1" to 1-3/8 in play. I'm at the center of the chain [where the swing arm makes a bit of a V] on the bottom run, and I can't check the full play in the chain because the rubber guard above the chain is in the way. I loosened one bolt and moved the rubber away so I could push the chain further up to measure the total play----is this the correct way? I haven't seen anyone else mention doing this.
Q#2: I previously had the chain too tight [about 7/8 play at the tightest spot of the chain, on the center stand] and drove it about 120 miles. If I did any damage to the trans what would I see or hear?
I now have the chain at about 1-1/4 in play, on the side stand..........any info and advice appreciated, thanks guys.......

    :welcome: to the madness
When you make adjustment make sure you find the spot that have less slack. The bike should be on center stand while making adjustment. You should not remove any bolt or the chain guard at all.
