Guys, I have acquired a used Stebel Nautilus horn with all beefy wiring and a relay. First, I need to test to make sure it works.

Simple test would be to connect two wires(+ and -) directly to the horn from battery and if it honks, it's functional, correct?

Second, has anyone installed it? If so, what location and did you use existing horn switch?

    Thanks

Used plumbers tape on the fairing bracket on the inside of the left fairing where the bolt is below the left clip on.
Plus Zip tied and been holding for over 5 years

You need to use a relay that is operated by the standard horn switch.
The Stebel pulls a lot more amps than the standard horn.
On my 5th gen, I split the horn and installed the pump inside the top right fairing, and the horn bellow the front downpipes.

BTDT. My pics are on the forum already but too lazy to go find the thread. Easier to re-post pics. The pics show two different mounting test I did. One with a long piece of aluminum bar and a short version. This was on my 6 Gen and is behind the left main fairing. Wiring diagram thrown in for good measure. Aluminum bar was purchased at Home Depot, Bosch style relay was purchased at an electronics store, as was the 18GA. wire used.

Thanks for sharing. If you look at the picture does it make sense?

+ and - directly connected with the battery with a 20A fuse, going directly to the relay. 4 wires coming out of relay, 2 going to the horn and 2 to the horn switch.

I have a 4th Gen and another bike. Trying to find the best and easier way to install it :D

Can anyone please share a location for 4th Gen?

The drawing is conceptual, where you get the power and how you tie it to the horn is up to you but ultimately you will be using the horn switch to trigger the relay. The one thing that should be in place is the fuse, especially if you are taking the power off of another power lead. The drawing uses the most efficient and least intrusive method of powering the horn. As far as a mounting location, can't tell you as unfortunately I don't have a 4 Gen but I'm sure there will be some little space somewhere on the bike. What you use to mount the horn is, again up to you.

Thanks OOTV. Sorry for the confusion, I was actually referring to the picture I posted in my #1 post.
