    Hi all.

Bought the bike 2 years ago. Came with both the original exhaust and a two brothers low, stainless. The original was on when I bought it and I never got around to trying the two brothers.

Put the two brothers on today. Wow, bike no longer sounds like a neutered sheep.

Now, I am worried about performance. Anyone else have this pipe? Do I need a PCIII? What Map if so?

    Enquiring minds want to know...

    Thanks

    CD

You don't need a PC. With just a muffler, the bike will run just fine. I've had 5 different mufflers on my 2000 & all 5 gave a noticeable improvement in sound & that's about it. I'm sure the bike runs slightly better but I didn't notice anything. I wanted my bike to sound good & that was all that mattered to me.

Will it run better with a PC? Probably. I don't have one, but from what people tell me, you get a very noticeable improvement of low speed throttle response. This comes at the expense of a pretty good hit to your MPG.

So a PC does bad things to your mpg? I did not know that.

usually. most people who tune their bike using a PC do so to get more power. The way that is achieved is by dumping a little more fuel into the mix at the right times (at least this is how I understand it). I am told that riding behind me with my PC and 2bros, there is a notable fuel smell when I hit the throttle. I usually get around 35 mpg as opposed to others' 42 mpg or so. I ride a 98.
