Inside a VF500F muffler

I've searched and found no pics. I'm not looking to gut a set of VF500 mufflers and terrorize the planet rather remove part of it and replace it with a perforated core and glass pack type packing. The first section of the mufflers is basically a perforated core with packing on the outside. What does the rear part look like? The heavy maze of tubing and plates that could be removed and replaced with a nice light glass pack type deal, making the exit small enough to keep the volume to a reasonable level and velocity high.
