I just had to replace the LCD assembly on my dash as the old one quit working. The flexible PCB on the back of the dash was fine - no corrosion or issues, so the problem was with the LCD assembly.
As part of my testing I moved the new LCD display panel onto the old circuit board, and it didn't work. The old LCD panel works just fine when mounted on the new circuit board. So it seems the circuit board of the original LCD assembly was the problem rather than the display component.
The problem now is that the odometer shows as 0 miles. Is there any way to input the correct mileage from the old circuit board? I don't want to have issues when I next take the bike for a state inspection and they note that the mileage is now 17K less than last year.
I'm used to dealing with VW cars - when you install a new cluster you get the opportunity to input the mileage from the old cluster. Just wondering if there's something similar with the bike.

I remember seeing a service that will set the mileage under these circumstances, can't remember if it was here in VFRW or elsewhere. Search LCD instruments here.

Bluegauges.com can handle the mileage correction for you Holsten.

I bought a brand new dash circuit board for my '03 and had them put the odometer mileage reading from the old circuit board into the new one.

    Here's the link. Click me.>>>http://www.bluegauges.com/mileages.htm

Thanks for the pointer to bluegauges.com. They managed to transfer the mileage info from the old board. I sent the gauges and old board via priority mail on a Wednesday, and had them back a week later. And all for less than the cost of 1 hour of labor at the dealer (who said it couldn't be done).
