Any one looking for an inexpensive way to repair broken/damaged ABS panels & fairings, this is the stuff you need.

    Manufacture: LORD Cary, NC USA
Product: Fusor #142 Extreme Plastic Repair
    Phone: 800-234-fusor
    web: http://www.fusor.com

I used this last week to repair the cowl panel between my tank & fairing that was literally broken in three pieces. It is now one smooth panel after flattening out w/ a scotch bright disk, sanding & painting.
The body shop @ work uses this stuff to fill in large holes in fiberglass semi hoods/fenders so it will take all kind of abuse & vibration. If you decide to get some you will have to buy a special chaulk type gun & get plenty of extra tips as you will need to change often as this stuff sets up very quickly

    Greetings TBone86,

    I just bought a 1991 VFR 750F, and I LOVE it!.

However, the previous owner laid it down, and the fairing parts are cracked in many many places. I THOUGHT it was fiberglass, and was researching how to do a traditional fiberglass repair, but your posting about the LORD Fusor #142 has me really curious...

HOW did you know your fairing was ABS plastic, and NOT fiberglass?

HOW can I tell if my 1991 VFR 750F (the tradtional Italian Red) is also ABS?

I don't want to buy the Fusor $142 and then screw things up if it's NOT ABS.

    Any advice is most welcome.

    Regards,
    - Mark

    Mark-vogt,
Honda very nicely puts a code on each piece that tells you what type of plastic the part is. AFAIK, there is no fibreglass and FG won't repair the bodywork. I've tried in the past, it just peels off. I've used the stuff aircraft spruce sells with good result on ABS.

It will work on fiberglass as well( they use it to fix holes in fiberglass fenders @ work ) it will also work on metal to fill in dents. Its not all that easy to work with once it sets so its best to get the finished side as smooth as possible when its still some what fluid. I'll post pic's of the cowls panels I repaired with it tommorrow; & if someone wants to try it I can see if I can buy some from work @ cost ( I don't have to pay for it, fringe benifit type of thing as long as I don't use a bunch of it). One tube goes a long way, you just need multiple ends as the compound sets up quickly when the two parts are mixed, you also need a special gun I can find out how much those are too one of my co workers just bought one.

I have a spare headlamp surround to fix I suppose I could take that in next week & take pic's of the procedure.

ABS plastic is, generally, black in color under the paint. Fiberglass panels when broken will show little hairs or fibers poking out of the plastci when broken.

I am 99.9 % sure your 91 VFR has ABS plastic, it is the predominent kind of plastic used nowadays for sportbikes. Just look at the broken parts, if its black its ABS
