I have a 1986 VF 400 NC 13. I currently have the stock 4 to 2 pipes on it at the moment. I would like to change and/or do something to these.
First off, can I even get aftermarket pipes for this bike in Canada, I have a dealership that I have no problem ordering the stock OEM parts from japan through, but I have no idea if aftermarket pipes (I.E. race pipes) are even made for this model anymore?? and if so price?? is it worth it??
If this top part doesn't work out is there anyway I could modify the stock pipes I have on right now??
The stock pipes I have on right now are fairly new, (having recently been replaced) so they look pretty good, but I would really love to beef up the sound. The bike just sounds so wimpy until around 6 grand, now I don't expect a big bore sound out of the bike but something a little more would be nice. Also I'm sure a more freeflowing pipe would help out my pony output as well  . Does anyone know what I could do to achieve my goals?? I'm on a very low budget and probably couldn't spend more than 3 to 4 hundred $ Canadian on a pipe/modifications. AKA, the cheaper the better.
Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated thanks.
    And ride on!!

Tough to lend any help on this one as your bike is beyond rare, good luck and let us know as you may help another in the future.

I know, it is ridiculously rare, and there were very very few that were made in 86, since at this point most of them were going to VFR's. Still, will do if I find anything out. But seriously, is there nothing that one can do to stock pipes to make them sound a little throatier??

I would imagine that any of the aftermarket pipes from the vf500 would fit...
