I'm casually coming back to look for a 3rd gen. I spent the last couple of months on my new boat. Now that boating season is coming to an end, I started poking around craigslist. I find 2 3rd gen. One is a '90 w/ 5k mi and the other is 93' w/ 70k mi. I'm not sure how the '90 can have 5k mi. Is there any way you can confirm bike mileage? Also, these bikes seem to be expensive compared to a new one. I saw a dealer leftover '07 for 7k on craigslist. Man...these 3rd gen must be rare. Does 3k sound like market value for a 3rd gen, assuming it's in pristine condition? We're in a recession...
Welcome back, I was looking at a 5th gen on Craigslist but the seller was asking $4850, the bike was a MY2000. Then I ran across a 6th gen with only 1000 miles being sold locally just 8 mi from my house for a little over $6000, it was an easy decision for me to go with the newer model even though I really like the MY2000's in yellow. In this slow economy the newer bikes have dropped a lot in price, one dealer on eBay was selling a leftover 2007 for $6895 (no other fees) which is a good offer except it was not near me and I'd have to pay another $500 sales tax. The 4th and 5th gen bikes are nice but not as good a deal IMO right now.
