I'd love a few 6th gen used aft/mrkt parts for a decent deal, GPS mount issues, & tips on modding

Hello, I recently picked up a 6th gen VFR and really dig it. As with almost every bike I've owned, I want to do a few upgrades. Seat and bars are at the top of my list. I'd like to just buy the bars and seat new, but my budget just won't allow that kind of purchase right now.

I'd love to get a decent price on some used riser bars, Apex would be my top choice, then variobars, and lastly would be heli-bars. I'm not interested in gen-mar risers, I've already slid the stock clip-ons up for free.

Seat - I'd love suggestions on modding a stock seat, I've watched videos and read about foam densities, but every bikes seat pan is different, you can get away with a soft foam on a pan that allows thick foam, but not so much on a thinner pan. SO - any guys done foam mods that like a soft seat? I realize that everybody says firmer seat, longer seat time, but not for me, I prefer a soft seat, memory foam status. SO, anyone out there like me? softer the better, and if so, more importantly, did you try to mod your seat.

Or - I would be game to try out a sargent seat if the price was decent, I figure I could always pass it on if I didn't like it and in the meantime I could work on my seat without any rush.

One other question - GPS mount, I have a RAM mount for my KTM but I can't find where to buy mount ends. The issue being that the ram mount for my KTM is for a handlebar and on the VFR there is no space to use this type of mount, I need the style that goes in a steering stem, or to a 10mm mirror post (I have a perch half with a mirror mount that matches the VFR master. Suggestions?

    Thanks,

I'm pretty sure that I have read where the bar mount holes line up with the tank bolts just behind the steering stem. Just leave off the lower clamp portion of the bar mount.
I think it was suggested to get longer bolts, but I don't remember that for sure.

This mount did lineup with the two front tank bolts. I bought it at gpscity.com. The ram mount and neck will perfectly mount to the two front bolts on the gas tank. Installs easily, looks great and I can take it off in 3-seconds...so it won't get stolen. My total cost was $38. I also bought a couple of bolts that were just a quarter-inch longer than the OEM tank bolts, just to be sure they had a enough grip.

I hooked up a power supply line, buy just buying an extra battery tender cable and reversing it (so it would plug directly in to the one hooked to the battery) and splicing into a cigarette plug-in...then just plug in the cable for the GPS and run it under the tank.

This is a Corbin Gunfighter Saddle that I found on craigslist, for $100! It fits the Honda VFR Interceptor 02-09 and lists for over $400, so bargains are out there.

I ended up finding a Sargent Seat I liked a little better and got it on craigslist for another $100, then sold the Corbin on eBay for $250....making a little cash for other accessories.
