I am thinking about purchasing the Icon Patrol Pants and Jacket at Revzilla. Has anyone purchased these and can share their experience OR maybe recommend something different? Icon Patrol Waterproof Overpants - RevZilla My goal is to purchase something that I can wear all year round and provide good protection. After much searching, I am coming to the reality that there really isn't a true "year round" jacket and pant that I will like. I probably need to buy something specific for warmer weather and something for cooler weather.....
I haven't tried this product but have a few others. If you are looking for something that is truly water-proof, I think you are going to be dissappointed here. Of course, I suppose it depends on what kind of riding you do and in what weather. When riding in a down pour, on the highways, the only thing that I believe is going to keep you dry is a cheap rain suit which is rubber backed nylon. It does not breath, but it keeps you very dry. I have had an assortment of so called waterproof clothing for motorcycling, bicycling and routine patrol duties, in cluding several expensive Gortex suits. In a down pour, I got wet with all of them except for these cheap rainsuits. Having said all this, that Icon jacket looks quite nice and had features that are great. I like those magnetic closures. I just hope they stay as secure as the velcro. I think the velcro closures will keep more of the highway wind out though. If you don't get the black, that jacket, with the liner removed, and all that venting open, should keep you relatively cool in the summer so long as you are moving. A huge benifit would be to wear Under Armour Heat Gear beneath that suit. Both top and bottoms. Get over the tight spandex feel of them. Honestly, when I was down in Nevada and Arizona this past spring, in very hot weather, and wearing a Tourmaster jacket, that Underarmour kept me quite cool while moving.
There have been several non US members here that have chimed in on the Rukka riding gear and swearing by it. The last time I looked them up I don't recall there even being any US retailers, but now Revzilla is selling Rukka. I personally have not tried or even seen the gear first hand but I can say it is pricey! In fact, I think a jacket alone cost more than a set of leathers! If it does the job that it's supposed to, it might be money well spent. For me, So. Cal doesn't have enough rain for me to even consider them as an option. Cheers
I have always had Icon products to include pants gloves helmets jackets and shirts. I have never had anything but great experiences from the products. I Don't look at other companies anymore due to my good experience with Icon
