Hello American lads and lassies. I'm one year into my stay here in the USof A and revelling in having a climate, even here in NorCal. Had to sell my beloved yellow VFR over there but found myself a lovely red 98. Worked around bikes all my adult life practically. Motorcycle courier in London for years, and years, and years. Moved to Aberdeen Scotland and started my own courier company. Discovered the true meaning of hypothermic death and sold up after a couple of years Back to London and started the Virgin LimoBike service for Richard Branson (basically a motorcycle taxi service for groovers using ST1100's). Six years later. Back to Scotland for some peace. Ended up working as Sales Manager for BMW Motorcycles and would piss them off by turning up on my yellow VFR to ride-outs. How I laffed. Sold up and moved to America. Ahh the warmth. Ahh the sunshine.
Welcome to the group and to America. Sounds like you have a storied background and probably a few tales to go with it. Glad to hear you found another Viffer to enjoy.
Ta Thanks vman. I was hoping that Corbin's and Sargent's etc would be nice and cheap over here....it doesn't look that way though. Bummer. At least the gas is (petrol as we called it) in comparison to Europe. And yes I have many many tales. Many. Mostly trying to get late Americans to Heathrow airport at rush hour on an ST11 through London gridlock...how come you Americans are always so huge? With huge luggage.
LOL:smile: not all of us ... I traveled europe several times with naught but a shoulder bag and a guide book. Welcome to this side of the pond. I'm sure you will enjoy california .... some of the greatest motorcycle roads in the west.
I must agree about the CA roads, although we do have amzing roads and scenery in Scotland it tends to be a bit nippy and waterproofs must be carried at alll times. When its right its perfect, when its not its bloody miserable. If one has any compassion about ones bike it has to be taken off the road for the 6/7 month winter, otherwise the road salt detroys them b4 yer very eyes. My yellow VFR lived in the conservatory all winter as the garage could get damp. My wife loved having it in there...not
Welcome, Clan Murray! I'm looking forward to enjoying some of those tales, as well. Enjoy California, but make a point to get out and really see America. Every region has a unique flavor that can only be experienced by being there, and taking it in - preferably, on two wheels.
Oh don't worry about me seeing a chunk of the US, I have a 3000 mile trip over to NYC at the end of the coming Spring, and on the return trip I'll hook South a bit for the variation. I'm seeing gel pads and Bengay in my crystal ball and possibly a relationship with a chiropractor.
welcome to vfrworld and welcome (belatedly) to california. I live there myself but a bit farther south where the best riding is.
