Australia is totally freaking awesome. I travel for a living & Oz is without a doubt my favorite place on the planet to go to. I've actually been to Townsville. We stayed at Jupiters & I won $1500 AUSD playing black jack.

So far in Australia, I've been to:
    RAAF Richmond/Penrith
    Sydney
    Cairns
    Port Douglas
    Brisbane
    Townsville
    Daintree
    Alice Springs
    Darwin
    RAAF Tyndal/Katherine
    Koranda
    Steve Irwin's (RIP) Zoo
    The Undarra Lava Tubes
    The Great Barrier Reef

I'm always happy when I hear the scheduler has put me on a trip to Australia.

KC-10 FE you are in the USAF no doubt?
I'm sure i've seen a couple of those refuellers parked here on the tarmac at Brisbane airport ( i work there). If your ever in Brisbane again give us a yell and we might be able to meet up.
Hopsterman there is an OZVFR site but it's fairly quiet compared to others, http://www.ozvfr.net give it a look over.

OZ Is great place - one thing that worries me is the wildlife.

    Howwever

Have you ever ridden in New Zealand? The variety of riding and scenery is huge in such a short distance. A round trip of the south island, take 4 or 5 days at your leasure. This would have to be the best riding I have ever done.

Yep, that's us you see in Brisbane. The runway at RAAF Richmond is only 7000 feet so we can't take off with enough gas for the 10 hour flight back to Hickam AFB so we stop in Brisbane.

I know what you mean about the wildlife. 23 or the top 25 deadlist animals on earth reside in Australia. The last time I was thru RAAF Richmond we were doing our preflight and something was wrong with the jet. We all walked over to the edge of the ramp to smoke. We saw a funnel web spider. It wasn't that big but it was aggressive. It actually jumped at one of the guys. This is where you picture 8 USAF guys in flight suits running across the ramp screaming like little girls.

My top places to go in Australia are Sydney, Darwin & tropical North Queensland. If you ever want me to not like Australia anymore, tell all the good looking girls to stop using that accent. Gets me every time...

I live in Penrith. I'll try to remember to wave next time you fly over.

I occasionally go over to Richmond to watch the planes landing & taking off. Haven't been there for a while....

Australia was great yet again. Last week was my 7th time being there. I sincerely believe I am a lucky man.

    Question for you Aussies...

Does anyone know how to convert kilowatts & newton/meters to HP/TQ? I was drooling over all the kick ass Holdens you guys get to drive but none of them are advertised with HP numbers, just KW.

    Thanks

A couple weeks back or so was a thread that the first post contained several speed conversions, don't remember the name, but... anyway, somewhere that thread was a link to down load a program called "convert.exe". I have it on my computer and have been using to for at work for a few years. Will convert any units you want into what ever you want.

I know to get KW into HP you basically take 1/3 of the KW figure and add that to itself to come up with the approx figure.
Our latest Commodore is around 190Kw so that's approx 250HP from a 6 cylinder motor.
I would have to look up the torque conversion

HOLY CRAP! The copy of "Wheels" I bought lists the new Comodore HSV as having 360KW. If that conversion is accurate, that equates to 483HP. Why can't GM take this car, put the steering wheel on the other side, slap a Chevy, Impala & SS badges on it & sell it here? Better yet, make another 2 door & bring a proper GTO & Chevelle to the States. I swear GM is intentionally trying to put itslef out of business in the US. All along, they have superior vehicles in Europe, Englans & Australia & they won't bring them to the US. I just don't get it.

I would say "Wheels" has it wrong. 300kw has been the ceiling for most aussie V8's of late... that is as they leave the factory floor.

But the new HSV VE Commodore is rated at 307kw, with the 6L LS2 V8.

    Take a look:

    http://carsguide.news.com.au/story/0,20384,20235603-5009380,00.html

I could be wrong with overseas models. We can only wish for 360kw... give em time though :bowl:
