The speedometer has been acting up on my 2000 VFR.
It started off as just modulating between a 10 mph range.. Exampl:. I'd be going 30mph and the speedo would show the needle jumping from 30mph to 40mph. Now it has progressed to just showing 0 mph or a really high mph if I'm moving along fast.. nothing in between.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Should I purchase a new one?

Also, does this effect my tach/tripometer/fuel level reading in any way?

you know that reminds me, mine is all boogered up and it still works. I keep meaning to buy one but I have never even priced it. The end of yours on the left up there where it looks like a bolt head would fit on mine looks like chewed bubblegum. Weird that mine would still work and yours acts up...

Make sure the coupler has not been pushed back on the shaft too far and is just not being turn by the bolt head, mine has done it a couple of times.

I replaced mine with a low mileage vfr off of ebay. Any year model should work. Two bonuses if you get a low mileage one. 1. It's newer than yours. LOL and 2. The plastic nut will be in better shape.
