I think my low idle problem might just be a adj under the gas tank.

I lift gas tank and see if I can adj the linkage or it might just be stuck at low idle. BB says it should work.

I think all of your problems are sitting on the seat...

Turn your idle speed adjuster to increase revs.

the black knob does nothing, but I went under the tank and was able to set the idle to around 1400 rpm- much better now. You have to take it out and move the screw then put back in, it has a 7mm nut, you just have to try it and see what it doe. My first try it ran way to fast, then I adj again and got 1400 rpm not bad- I might just leave it there. A little faster might be a bit better than the stock 1200 +- 100, so I am only 100 rpm too high now P1010196.jpg P1010195.jpg P1010194.jpg P1010193.jpg P1010192.jpg As you can see I did a great job this time, the oil had maybe 2000 + miles as you can see its quite dirty .:clap2:

I adj the idle screw with 7mm nut and got it to work close to perfect. Its now idles at 1400 which is very close,. my first attempt it idled way too high. I may try again to actually get 1200+-100 which is what its suppose to be. I took a ride and it seems to be running much better, before it was idling at below 600 and actually stalling-no good. The throttle cable may have caused the problem. My oil change came out pretty good but I may have over filled it a little. 3.3qts is ion the manual but the vfr has a oil cooler-so I think some oil maybe .3 qts is still in the bike. So to change the oil just put in 3 qts and check. my floor is so uneven its impossible to check, so I will go to a flat area then recheck the oil level. I put in just a little more than 3qts. The vfr runs very hot, so one qt 10-50,qt 10-40,qt of 05-40 all Castrol rt. I don't think , I won't use rottla T6 because its not rated m2. motorcycle oils are getting better and filters too-might as well use the very best. Looking at the pic of oil change,. It looks like I change the oil a bit early using the Napa platinum oil filter-extra big oil filter-holds more oil-see pic for #-it is the best filter easy to get made for syn oil and perhaps one of the best oils you could use the Castrol RT-used by BMW's, I would say both are truly excellent. My trips are all short, so that's very hard on the oil. No matter as I fixed some other things too-chain oil was building up on the kick stand-degreased that and some of the engine too and shock. I also emptied the anti freeze bottle and put in some fresh stuff.:mech: I will look into the air mixture adj, but I don't think it is needed right now. I need to check the air filter, so I will work on that next-my pipercross can be cleaned and re oiled with a K+N kit that I all ready have,. I adj the idle screw again. But the bike is now running very good, so I can use it while I am getting around to air filter. I fixed the stuff that was really giving me problems.
