Finished my chain replacement - eccentric hub unsticking project late last night. Started late, just stayed up through the night cleaning things up, etc.

However, the crowning achievement was to be the chain adjustment and then hit the bed.

Everything moved perfectly freely but unless I was delusional, rotating the eccentric hub clockwise loosened the chain, counterclockwise tightened it.

This is backwards from what I thought it should be. This is a new to me gen 5. I previously had one about 7 years ago.

Did I perhaps start with the eccentric hub in the wrong position and just need to cycle it around or am I still sleep deprived and acting stupid?

I've been fiddling with it and I think the problem is I started the reassembly with the hub in the wrong position. I remember putting it in per the manual which is to orient it in a specific manner. But I remember fiddling with it just to check how free it was. So, it works and I can adjust the chain. It just seems backwards. I think I may consider popping off the rivet master link, adjust it and put a new link in.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

You shouldn't need to do that. Just turn to maximum slack and pick the chain off the sprocket, then rotate adjuster as much as you want, right??
