08 CBR1000 The truth be told my son and I where talking track bikes and yes the 600RR came into consideration. I was thinking gsxr750.. but at the last minute he spotted this crbr1000, one owner original owner, all the records and all, so went to take a peak since it was also local, no harm in looking right? Then the price was more than right, and on top of that it had bling. so it followed us home.

The only harm in looking is just what happened to you....you bought it LOL. Nice looking ride!!
I've always wanted a big bore, 1000 cc or more. Damn near bought a lightly used Blackbird before the VFR.

That's interesting, the Ohlins forks (presumably taken from a 2012 1000RR SP?) have GP Suspension stickers on the boots; I'm assuming they were serviced there, otherwise it would be weird to replace parts from those forks with GP Suspension bits.

Congrats! You will have a blast. The forks look to be F&G's. Do you know if the previous owner had them revalved? The stock valving that comes with them is ok but to really get the full potential get the super bike Ohlin vale kit installed. Any fueling controllers or other mods done? Stock gearing? The 08 and on platform is really a track friendly platform. With the full Ohlins suspension and good rubber and brakes......... going to a lot of fun. You have gone this far get the suspension tuned for you. LDH (who actually joined here recently) Mike at Kyle Racing is really good with set ups. Throw the forks and shock in a gun case and send him the parameters and they will come back ready to bolt on no adjustments needed.
That is my favorite color combo.

Thanks, yea kinda one of those unexpected purchases, LOL if there's anything like that. I'll look at the receipt and see if it says what version Ohlins those forks are, I know they did not come off the SP. He did have it dialed in for his weight, there wasn't any mention of a re valve so ??? that and he looked to be 210ish, which is bigger than me. another small bonus, there's only one track day on the tires. only minor hic up is he handed over the log book and by the read it hasn't had a oil change since summer of 013 but he did use Amsoil ;) that and only had gone 1500 miles....hence it s getting drained as I write this. His reason for the sale on his part was he bought a 015 Repsol.

Just take it easy coming out of corners. With that much power, it's easy to spin up that rear tire and hi side the thing.

    Don't ask........

Holy shiet LOL yea YIPIE YAY AY! took it out for a bit checking this and that, found the chain needs replaced, Doh! loves to pull the front up, also found that its geared down two up front, 2 more in the rear, whoa no wonder it pulls hard in 3rd and 4tgh 5th and 6th.. crazy fun, but yea coming out of a corner will be interesting, :) taking throttle management to another level. put probably going to go stock gearing will see if that settles it down a bit.

A really good all around gearing for that bike with a 55 profile tire is -1 +1. Some do a -1 +2 but it starts getting pretty aggressive at that point. -2 +2 is just too much except for tighter technical tracks. On tight tacks the 1-+1 might mean your dropping into a lower gear but the CBR has such good low end and mid torque that it really handles it well. AFAM sprockets and DID 520 will handle the abuse for a long time.

I love the Oreo paint job. Thought of doing something similar to my VFR. The CBR is all black.
