Picked up my 2008 VFR last Thursday. It was 78 degrees and I took 2 hours to get home via backroads. The VFR feels much more planted in front than my 1989 Hawk GT. I really needed the bigger fuel tank as the Hawk is only 3.2 gals. Even my RZ350 had over 5 gallons. Waiting for the Convertibars to arrive any time now. Probably will get a touring screen. Any ideas? Wind blast is not too bad right now but when I raise the bars 2 inches or so, there will be a difference. Even though it was cool today, I roade any way. The more I ride the VFR, the more I plan to sell the Hawk.

Welcome, nz87xy! I have a Zero Gravity ST screen which I like especially when I am going to be on the road for a few days with some highway riding. Otherwise, I do leave the stock screen on most of the time. It is so easy to switch screens--10 minutes at most--that having two is hardly a waste. Oh yeah, I have helibars, so I sit up a bit higher than stock.

Sargent or Corbin? I have a Corbin on my Hawk and it made the bike so much better. Wider, flatter and more comforatble. Never tried a Sargent. I'm not very big so the stock seat isn't too bad right but I'm sure I'll change it.

I believe that mods are personal preference, but that said I HATE the stock saddle! It has no redeeeming features. It is slick and makes long mileage days a real PITA. And in the wrists and abdominals. Maybe your experience will be different than mine. But I doubt it.

Otherwise, stock running is 'jes fine.

My convertibars finally arrived while I was on vacation. The long delay was due to the President (owner?) of the company passing away from colon cancer. Apparently, he ran the show so people are trying to understand his process for filling orders and that took a while. Probably will work on installing the bars tonight so I can ride later this wek. I bought the longer cables and fluid lines so that will be extra work but should be fun. Windscreen next maybe. Perhaps an MRA Vario.

Welcome. 78 degrees is cold? C'mon.
Sargent seat is way better than stock seat. I have the Givi touring screen and it works pretty well. I'm about 6'.

Convertibars installed! I ordered the longer throttle cables and it took some time to install. The barrel ends were too wide at the throttle body so I had to grind them down. I also orered the longer clutch and front brake lines but the brake line was for the abs brakes. Won't work on mine so I installed neither. I'll probably return them once I can verify is out of probate. I had to reroute the clutch line to the otherside of the triple clamp like on their website. Had to bleed it and that took a long time. I pulled the front brake line up as much as I could and ground off the stop tab at the master cylinder so I could rotate the banjo fitting. The convertibars look great in black. Right now they are about 1.5 inches closer to me and 1.5 inches higher. Could only go for a short ride but I notices an immediate difference. The pressure is off my wrists for sure. Thought I'd have to go higher but right not it feels good. My helmet in now in the wind blast but it's not to bad. A taller shield might cure that. I also used the new bards which have some mass - more than the stock ones. Not exactly a quick reply, but hey, it was fun working on the bike for the first time.
