Greetings from SHanghia, China. I presume you want valve clearance settings.. Inlet 0.004" ( 0,10 mm )...Exhaust 0.006" ( 0.15mm )...Will have to think / investigate the spark plug settings etc. ( I am normally in Melbourne , but, now in China. ) I think I have some information buried in my computer, and will investigate this as I have to go out...
    Regards ......... Peter 1984 VF1000RE owner

Found the information.. Spark Plug gap for 1984 VF1000RE model is 0.80 ~ 0.90 mm ( 0.032 ~ 0.036" ) Recommended plugs are NGK DPR9EA - 9. These plugs recommended for most climates. If you live in an area below 41F ( 5 C0, the recommended plus is NGK - DPR8EA-9.

According to the 1984 manual, compression should be 185 PSI + - 28 PSI

NOTE: I just checked the PDF manual for 1984, and it states valve clearance to be 0.006"+ - 0.001'.... Strange, as I thought is was 0.004 inlet and 0.006 " exhaust. You must use two feeler gauges at a time when setting the valve clearances.... So, that way, and play is taken up. [Do not do one valve, then put the feeler gause under the under... TWO FEELER GAUGES ARE REQUIRED.

Hope this helps. I can e-mail the manual if required, but, there are differnces in the type of cams etc, between 1984 to USA 1985

The US manual I have for the 1000R lists both the IN & EX valve clearances as .14 +- .02mm (.006 +- .001in).

Plugs are the same as mentioned above.

It has rocker arms so the tappets are the screw type.

Only buckets over a valve stem have shims. Newer engine types that eliminated rocker arms.
