    Well, Saturday I pulled the trigger! Rode in on a '99 VFR800fi, rode out on a '10 VFR1200F. :)

In my limited time since yesterday afternoon I've managed to put a little over 400 leisurely miles on her, and MAN am I smitten with the big girl.

Here's a few pics (and the obligatory sunset shot) for our snow-bound brethren. ...I took these with my phone (Droid X) so they aren't the best, but not too shabby either. :)

Nice I Can't Wait to Put Some Miles On Mine

She came home late yesterday, sitting in the garage temp tag saying "call in sick". The weather looks good the rest of the week.

Looks like I will have save some beer money for the hard cases, do you have the full set or just the topper?

    Ride don't whine

    Congrats
Always to have a New Shiny in the garage. Especially one that few others have.
    Enjoy!

Seemedo, I have the full set, though the back-pad is on back-order. lol

dublflush, it's fairly similar in riding to the 5th gen, though I was spoiled by the Sargent seat I had. It's a little slower transitioning from side to side, but very planted in turns. It really doesn't feel as heavy as it is, but it does feel heavier than the 800. That said it pulls like a freight train starting around 3500rpm and at 5500rpm you've got to be ready to shift because it will rocket to red-line really quickly! ...mines not even broken in yet, so I'm taking it easy (relatively) but she gets scary fast, quick, once you cross that 6k mark on the tach.

The suspension ...well, let's just say I'm still playing with it. I'm on the heavier side at 6' 225# and the suspension seems either harsh, or bouncy, and I can't seem to find a good setting in between. ...but I'm terrible at setting up suspension and really haven't put too much effort in yet. I have a new Penske I was going to have valved for the 5th gen, but it's probably headed to Lindemann for the works to replace the OEM on my ruby slipper.

Keep in mind, I've only got 450 miles on it, and she's still breaking in. On the plus side, my first tank of gas got me 35.5 mpg riding conservatively, the last tank I got 37.5 riding a fair amount harder. ...hopefully that upward trend continues, as I don't want to hunt down gas stations every 120 miles! lol

I monitored engine oil temp on mine during run-in .Yikes it got hot. Noticeable was the reduction in the drive housing temp after miles accumulated with gear oil change. They are very lean under 3k rpm at up to 10% throttle opening. Once we have a method to up the air fuel ratio a little in that area i expect cruise mileage and engine smoothness to be better.

As an aside - I had a new CBX and it would get 22mpg when honking it through the twisties - funny how the brain remembers certain things.

Congrats on the new bike. They are a fun one to ride .
