I got a killer deal on a new BMW R 1200 R, plus a great trade in on the '98 VFR. I have some parts to move on. Sargent seat, OEM windscreen, Dougherty Mototsports fork cartridges. see classifieds. also still have VTR lower legs and RC51 front brake system if you are thinking about de-linking. I went out west on a 2,700 mile trip and the Honda just ate up the miles, but my old body didn't do so well. The back of my neck and shoulders took a beating. I had to find something more comfortable for long trips.

just curious, did you make the trip with stock bars installed? or did you have helibars on there.

stock bars. I don't think rising the bars the little bit that helibars would do could have much differnce. I love the riding position, but what can I say - it sucks getting older.

Cavman people tend to swear by those BMW 1200's so you did nothing but good. Congratulations on a nice bike.

People who ride or own Harleys do the same. I read that someplace so it must be true.

Great decision on an upgrade bike! That new R1200R is on my short list as a do-it-all bike.
    Looking for a ride report!

the bike has ever option except for the sport windscreen. they took $2500 off the MSRP no set up or freight and gave me $3000 for the VFR. I'll admit I was looking for an excuse to buy a new bike, and they made me "a deal I couldn't refuse".

Good choice on your new bike.. I have a Beemer.. Kind of too bad you didn't get the opportunity to for some time with some Heli-bars. The added width and Height, sis not large numerically but significant in overall posture. To cure that on my BMW, an R100RS, I installed K75 bars.

If those forks will fit a 90-93 I am interested. 25 years in a marine climate and some very hard to see pitting on my current forks cut my fork seals. PM is best..

My current forks are Gold Valved so if this works out, the valving will be up for sale.

I have been a BMW rider for years. The R1200R is a great bike. I have a R1200ST with 38,000 trouble free miles I ride in NJ. If a dealership were closer to my FL home, I might have considered another BMW....

Nice bike, I have a friend that went from a CBRxx to one of them 1200r, he liked the vfr, just want more engine, that and he pondered over the vfr1200, just could get past the looks. that being said you'll be back, once bitten by a V4 madness you never get over it. Enjoy the smell of that new bike ;)

how much are you willing to part for the sargent seat? Also, I got the lowered pegs as well as the heli bars and it's made the long rides much much easier on my old man posterior.

Yes , I actually like BMW, but I am happy with my old vfr-i am finally figuring it out, most of the problems are the rider not knowing how to fix the bike

Those heads wouldn't last a week with SOW unless the bike came with training wheels...
