and the proud owner of a new RWB 07 - This bike is too quite, can't hear the V4's tune well enough. What are my options - modify stock - or who makes the best sounding slip-ons?

I have had many bikes since I sold the 02 (didn't like the Vtec but am giving it another chance), Love the look of the RWB. Only have 60 miles so far but everything feels good, just too quite.

Going from stainless to carbon fiber has made me happier then ever with my bike. Don't get me wrong, staintunes are FANASTIC... I just wanted something that didn't make babies cry when I rode by. (was losing karma points every time I laughed at a crying baby)

I felt the same way for me the biggest down fall was lack of or no exhaust note i went with a set of staintunes couldent be happier. on gen 6 with cat their not mind blowing loud just right with baffels out. baffels in not any louder than stock needles to say i dont use the baffels i havent made any babies cry when i ride by that i know of . took awhile to break them in for that awsome sound they sound best when they get good and hot

300 miles yesterday on the RWB

Hadn't ridden since I sold the f4 3 months ago so I got a little tired (the trip was in the NC/TN mountains. I am still not in love with Vtech but it may grow on me after I learn to use it.

The bike pulls very well and is smooooth at low RPM's, some of this is probably because of Vtec (more effecient at low engine speeds) the engine has good torque (almost V-twin-ish) when accelarating out of turns (feels real good). What I don't like about Vtec is the sudden surge when it hits (again, I may get used to it). From what I can tell so far is that you have two completely different engine personalities to choose from - one (below 7K) is great for rythum type riding through the twisties, the other (above 7 K) is for the more aggresive style riding - braking hard in and accelerating hard out. It is best (for me) to stay in one of the modes (not switch back and forth from corner to corner)

It has been a while since I rode a VFR but it handles very well (turns great). I was riding with a Triumph Tiger and a SuperMoto, the VFR more than held it's own. IMO many people overemphasize the weight issue (this is also true on the dirt bikes I race in the woods). The weight on the VFR is in the right place, making it turn very well and very stable.

Linked brakes - I forgot how good these work on the VFR. I know that Ricky racer will say that they don't need no stinkin linked brakes but let me tell you that they are like cheating (I couldnt even use the rear brake on the R6 becauce it would just lock the rear up into a chatter). When you apply the VFR brakes (front or rear) the bike justs squats and slows down in a hurry - they work super! Now, Nicky doesn't need them, and they might not benefit everyone equally, but the work well.

Smoothness is where it is hard to beat the VFR. The engine is silky smooth when cruising. On my F4 I was always looking for another gear because the engine seemed to be revving to hard, on the VFR I caught myself cruising for extended periods and forgot I had TWO MORE gears I could upshift too. At 60 MPH you can ride it in 4th 5th or sixth, and it doesn't really change the vibration (because there isn't any vibration to speak of on this engine).

The VFR is ultra refined and many people (me included) would sometimes like to see something different but, there are many things on the VFR that would be hard to improve on in and diffenent isn't always better.

I got to tell you I love my scorpions! Fit Finish and most of all the sound. Check out there web site they have sound bites of what they sound like on a test bike to give you an idea. It's pretty close to the real thing. They were a little pricey because I wanted the flame finish but I have no regrets. Check out the photos in my gallery and see what you think. Good Luck!
