I am relatively short, 5' 7". When I sit on the VFR, my legs do not touch the top of the tank where it flares out. If I raise my legs, putting them off the pegs an inch or more, I can put my legs into that pocket, and it feels so much better, like I am one with the bike.

For you normal sized riders, is this what you experience, do your legs go right into that channel under the top flaring of the tank?

I thought about buying some adjustable pegs, like from MFR or www.mc-motorparts.com. Another option would be the Sato rear sets, but I am not sure how much adjustability those give as far as height of pegs, anyone know?

I recently installed some techspec tank grips and I could see how it would be very comfortable to have my legs up and hugging the tank in that pocket.

I'm 6' 1" with 34" inseam--my knees don't hit the "flare" at normal position, but I still grip the tank with my legs to support myself. Takes all the pressure off my hands. A light grip means much more precise positioning & the ability to make quicker recovery adjustments in case you lose adhesion.

was just thinking the same thing. Hopefully it wasn't a stroke.

To the OP, I'm 5'10" and my legs don't hug the flares either. But like you, I added some tank grip pads, Stompgrips. Love them. Not sure your knees are supposed to ride that high on the tank though.
