HP increase in 2000? Marketing?

I've noticed in a couple of places that Honda reports the 2000 VFR had an increase of 10HP over the '99.

I'm not aware of any mechanical changes except for the maybe cat and O2 sensor. Anybody know why the 2000 would be a little stronger?

 

The 00 has a different ECU & injectors than the 98-99.

10 more HP? I seriously doubt it. The main benefits are increased MPG, easier starting (auto fast idle), better throttle response & if you're into the whole green movement, the catalytic converter.

Bikez also lists the '98 as having more HP than the '99 so I wouldn't worry too much about that. I saw a Honda claim the other day that had the '98 at 110PS which I had to look up bu it's apparently about the same as HP.
