Thanks to others for finding the Sato RC51 part and a CBR600RR rod and making it all happen.
    I'll do a write-up of how I did it.
    Here's how it looks stock:

Now the Sato part has a female, left-handed thread side to it. That's new to me as my latest bikes had the left-handed thread on the gear lever side.

To make it all work, I took this old Aprilia part which also is female and has LH thread.
    That would be pic 2.

I cut the ball joint off, drilled a few mm deep with a 6 mm drill bit on the side where the ball was and welded a 6 mm rod to it.
So you end up with something like this:

Next was to measure twice and cut once. I had put a piece of tape on the frame that indicated where the gear lever was before I started.
I used the Honda cover to protect the Sato pivot and used a shorter bolt so that it would clear the clutch line well.

A couple of coats of primer and paint and Robert's your father's brother.

Clearance of about 3 mm to the clutch line and about 2 mm to the housing.

No stock parts were harmed in the process and of course I'll do it properly in stainless steel once I get my hands on 6 mm LH taps.

Not meaning to derail but while I was taking pics I couldn't help but notice this: that's part of the ABS, man! :frown:

I promised to do it in stainless steel and recently I got round to it. 8 mm stainless steel rod, M6 left hand taps and a 6 mm stainless rod with right-hand thread. Weld together and polish and there you go.
In the top of the pic, the steel one. The paint came off with every wash.

On the bike. Apologies for the blurred picture but with the flash you can now also see the Sato part.

WHat if you just swapped the wires on the up and down shift buttons? Just a little bad humor thrown in.
