Hi, I bent mine and I need to R&R it but it looks like I need to remove the header pipe to gt the footpeg/brake lever off - say it ain't so. Anyone done this on a '99? Thanks.
Can you take a picture of your rear set? I know on some they have a bolt on the back side of the bracket 12 or 14mm. The peg itself isn't round but has a flat spot on opp sides and grove in the bracket. This keeps it from spinning. So, feel on the back side if you cant get me a picture. I just polished mine tonight but we don't have the same bike.
Hey thanks I found the answer in the manual, so when in doubt read the instructions. I still need to actually do it but I need a 26 mm socket to remove the footpeg assembly...
OK, so I needed to remove the nut under the black plastic cover with a 1-1/16 inch (26 mm) socket plus disconnect 2 return springs, a couple of Allen head bolts & off it came. Now on the bench I'm removing the 180 degree bend I put in the brake lever so it ends up approximately where it was & hopefully will function as before.
