I recently removed the engine from the frame and will be painting the engine. I wanted to remove the cooling piping that is attached to the engine to clean the area, however it is a bit difficult and i'm wondering if there is an trick to removing these to clean them. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

If your 1000 is like my 83 750, there are chrome tubes that go into a cast aluminum housing. Honda uses an O-ring as a seal and they are probably stuck.

You need to remove all the cooling piping and replace all seals and orings. Otherwise you will be doing it later to fix leaks.
Also check that the galleries from the two "wells" are clear of gunge.
