So I got nabbed a while ago for going 74 in 55 and today I showed up in court ready to fight it. The prosecutor offered me a plea bargain where I get no points on my license and it gets reduced to 68 in 55. I accept it and damn, that was easy. :heh: The main concern I have is just the points on my license. My insurance is pretty cheap and I plan on keeping it that way.

A word to the wise, if you want to fight your ticket and they offer you a plea bargain just take it. If you don't the courts will get mad at your for wasting their time and try to make you guilty.

If you ever ride in Dahlonega, GA watch out for the speed trap on GA-400 where the speed limit changes from 70 to 55 and the sign isn't really visible. I didn't even realize I was speeding until I saw :mod: behind me. Here's a google linky that shows where the speed trap is: Dahlonega Speed Trap

Yea well , they have out here for some county's a deferred program, thing is in some cases the fee for that is worse than the infraction, so this gets me going Hmm, Then there's mitigation vs an all out prove your case. Once you pick the direction there's no going back LOL yea they don't like it when you waste time, but it's ok for them to drag their ass.

    Hey :-[),

This page might help: How to beat a speeding ticket in Washington State You said court is a 2 hour ride away right? The article says you can fight the ticket by mail if you're over 70 miles away.

Edit: One other thing I forgot to mention is that I'm hearing you can keep your insurance rates down even if they find you guilty by asking for a bunch of insurance quotes from different companies. But don't change your insurance company. This apparently makes your insurance company think that you're going to leave them and they'll keep your rates the same no matter how many points you have so they can keep you on as a customer.

So what you can do is a month before court date request as many insurance quotes as you can. You don't even have to make phone calls, just go online to websites like www.progressive.com and www.geico.com

hehe in Calgary they made the prosess faster, if you want to fight it you can stand in line and wait for a justice of the peace to give you his bargan after hearing your sob story. If you acept your fine, you refuce then there is a court date. Saves time at the court.
Usually they knock of the demerit points but you pay full price.

In BC the point system is going away and simply being "charged" with a ticket will cause your insurance premiums to rise. So even if ya fight it and get the fine dropped to a $1 your still going to pay.
