    Hey folks.

Ok, i'm a bit of a noob, but i need to drain the tank of my 85 VF500F. I have the clymer book, but i'm still a little confused about if i need a vacuum pump to fully drain the tank or not. I disconnected the hose from the tank to the fuel pump/filter and drained most of the tank by turning the fuel switch from on to reserve and back a couple of times. I can hear a little more fuel in there sloshing around, but can't seem to get at it.

    Thanks

You could remove the pump/switch. It's held on by 2 bolts, easily removed.

I just drained mine the other day. I just took off the fuel line to the carbs and drained it into a gas can (takes a littele while) Turn the switch to reserve to empty the the reserve tank also. Their will be a little left afterwards. Unbolt the tank and turn it upsided down and shake the rest out, wipe any gas off the paint to prevent damage.
