$119 for a RR? that is very cheap. Try $200 through a dealer. I got one for $149 from ridenow.com and thought I was getting a great deal! Mine is the newer improved Honda one. I wasted money on a Electrosport one only to have it burn out a week later. I haven't had any probs since and even have a spare lying around just in case.

Well mine went out at about 46,000 miles, bought one from bikebandit.com for about $100. Rode on that for 30 miles then that one croaked on me. Checked it out and the RR that I just bought had a short. So did a bunch of troubleshooting such as ehcking current directly from the alternator, the starter relay switch etc. and found out they just sent me a bad R/R so bought from a local dealer and haven't have a problem with it since. You may want to check some things out just in case it wasn't just the rr

I just replaced mine on a 98' at 16500km(9200 miles). The Honda part was $220 Canadian. It left me on the side of the road in 33C heat looking for a hill to bump start it. It would not start just pushing it, possibly cause it was so hot & I was hungover(too much draft beer!).
    Cheers

Hey Keet; yea, I just changed the R/R in my Y2K VFR, I read so many horror
stories about that damm R/R and its placement on the bike. I got the new improved unit from Honda for about $ 145. In addition I also did the little computer fan modification. Hopefully , I can remove that one from worry list.I have about 12k miles on the bike and the origional unit did work.Maybe the little fan is a bit overkill, but it was pretty inexpensive and I like turning switches on and off!
