how much do you think $800 will get me?

    I have a 86 Honda vf500 and its going to the shop tomorrow and I only have 800 to put into for a clutch problem!

    you can rebuild both the master and slave and change the clutch plates and springs for way way less than that... I'm gonna say like 200 or maybe a little more....

    buy a manual and do the work yourself....you'll save a bundle

    changing the clutch is super easy! 4 bolts and just pull it off, replace the discs and put that bad boy back on!! 1 hour tops and you will probably need the seal for the right side cover.

    hey take that $800 and buy another 500. I bought a parts bike for $200 and it has saved my bike and my pocketbook many times

    thermo man its super easy you can rebuild the mast cylinder and slave and new clutch and gasket for under 200.. man i would just do that save that cash while you can

    Just to confirm/echo what everyone is saying: it's true.
    If you do your own brakes the simplicity of the clutch work will surprise you. Most bikes are so much more well designed than cars. If it were a BMW you'd still have to break it in half to get to the clutch, not Hondas though.

    BTW anyone want to buy a BMW? The clutch is fine at the moment...

    I can do a V45 magna clutch in less than a hour and it only took me an hour and a half my first time. download the manual and for about 200 in parts you can replace the clutch and gasket rebuild the master and slave and save your self an assload of money.
