Hello -- just joined the forum because I'm looking at what might be a decent deal on a '92 VFR. But I'm a little worried about the time it's got on it. It's got 105,000 kms (65,000 miles) and I'm wondering if that means it's about ready to croak. Anyone know how long these go for? It's my first bike, but I'd love to get 30,000 clicks on it before having to shop around again . . .

30,000 more will be no problem.. just check your fluids on a regular basis and you should be fine. If not then you're looking at a rebuild or swap, and sometimes you can't rebuild a motor especially when you throw a rod through the block.

    Believe me I know lol

    Good luck

As aawite said, the engine should be fine if regular maintenance has been done. However, I would stress that the other fluids (i.e. coolant, brake, clutch, etc.) should be repalced and you may want to replace the front fork springs too.

The VFR engines are pretty bullet proof. So if I was purchasing the 92 you are looking at the engine would be the least of my worries.

Maitanance, Fluids, & care it will run just about forever:biggrin:

I had a '86 VF 500 that I sold with just over 150,000 miles on it 10 years ago & it's still running around today with about 220,000 on it with still no major work other then general maintanance

    The V4 engine is awsome, not a 6th Gen, & it's a Honda !

It should last a long time as long as you perform regular maintenance and upkeep.
